Dionaea Muscipula or Venus Flytrap,
This carnivorous plant is found in the US states of North Carolina and South Carolina. There are also introduced populations in northern Florida. In winter it sometimes freezes slightly in these areas and it can also snow lightly. So they are certainly not tropical plants.

Care Basic:

  1. Always give rainwater, demineralized water without perfume or Osmosis water, also available in our shop.

  2. Plant the unfertilized Blonde peat or regular peat with or without perlite or use our home mix.

  3. The Dionaea must always be in a container with water and kept wet, they are therefore swamp plants. In the winter you should keep them moist but not wet, to prevent any mould.

  4. Place the plants in a sunny spot outside or in a conservatory, you can also build a marsh for the plants or place them in a part of the pond. It is best to consult us, we will design or provide the optimal place on your pond or in your garden.

  5. The plants are 100% hardy and need a cold period, but if you keep them outside in a small pot they can still freeze to bits. When there is frost below -5°C I would temporarily take them indoors in a fresh place.
