Sarracenia care

The Sarracenia or trumpet pitcher plant, North American pitcher plant,
There are a huge number of different types of Sarracenia and hybrids / crosses between the species, all with their properties and qualities. But the care of all these pitcher plants remains almost the same.
Care Basic:
-
Always give rainwater, demineralized water without perfume or Osmosis water, also available in our shop.
-
Plant the sarracenia in unfertilized Blonde peat or regular peat with or without perlite or use our home mix.
-
The sarracenia must always be in a container with water and kept wet, so they are swamp plants. In the winter you should keep them moist but not wet, to prevent any mould.
-
Place the plants in a sunny spot outside or in a conservatory, you can also build a marsh for the plants or place them in a part of the pond. It is best to consult us, we will design or provide the optimal place on your pond or in your garden.
-
The plants are 100% hardy and need a cold period, but if you keep them outside in a small pot they can still freeze to bits.
